I don't begrudge anybody that still likes to hold a book, there are plenty of you out there. But if I have a choice of trying to load a few books into my backpack or just one thin little device that can hold as many books as I want... I am taking the thin little device... especially when commuting.

BTW, I highly recommend the lighted cover as well for commuting for the times when the light around you isn't so hot. It is powered off of the Kindle, so there are no batteries to worry about, the light is just enough to light the screen and not annoy others around you. Plus in the leather (like) cover, the Kindle feels more like a "real book"

Thanks, I found this review very useful! I had been considering splurging on a Kindle - I have no interest in any of the tablets out there, anyway. Glad to see it wouldn't be a waste of money to do so. Though, honestly, I rather like reading BOOKS...you know, the experience of a paperback in my hand, etc. But, I can see the benefits of having a Kindle, especially since I commute to work now.

Stay Tuned (I've always wanted to say that)... there were a host of new tablets introduced at the Consumer Electronics Show as well as many inexpensive (and some bad cheap tablets) that are already out that I will be posting here real soon.

Still on the fence about the iPad and looking for a reasonable (i.e. less expensive, but still works) tablet, as well. Your review helps tons, thanks!!!
